Unnamed Verdikan Island WIP

So yesterday I looked up some photoshop techniques on YouTube that show you how to get the cool topographical textures that make maps more realistic. In this demonstration, you can see most of those technique at work. This piece is only half-finished because I still need to add trees, snow, beaches, and a bunch of other stuff you would usually find on an island.

Aside from the new texture effects for mountains and stuff, I also decided to take my old version of Verdok and vectorize it so I could enlarge it to the largest file I have ever worked with in Photoshop. This particular island is only a tiny snippet of the full country of Verdok, which is exactly 10,000 by 12,000 pixels. Sadly, you may not see that for quite a while because I still have to put all the textures on it and stuff.

In this deviation, 800 pixels is equal to exactly 100 miles, which gives the island as a whole a maximum width of about 105 or so miles, so it's a pretty good size. Everythings is to scale except perhaps the river, which would have been a lot more difficult to color into the image if I had made it actual size, though I wouldn't say it's too far off.

Currently, this island doesn't have much presence in the story at all, but I textured it first because I wanted to mess around with the effects without feeling like I wasn't doing anything. Still, this image is canon, so if for some wild reason you want to write a fanfiction that takes place here, you have all of the correct terrain to know where to go. I might add a few more rivers around, though.

Since this is still a work in progress, I will make be making adjustments to it as I build upon it, so I would like it if you could provide some critique and give me some pointers, because I'm sure there are people more familiar with proper geography that I am.
